MAC AIDS FUND
Having worked for MAC cosmetics myself it makes me love the brand all a little more when profits from the sale of their products goes back into the community and for an amazing life changing cause.
This brings me to share with those of you who aren't aware of the amazing fund MAC have had going strong since 1994. The MAC AIDS FUND was established to help support the woman, men and children effected by HIV/AIDS globally.
100% of the sale of any MAC Viva Glam and " kids helping kids"products go straight to this fund.In which goes to supporting organisations involved in helping those living with this disease ,especially in poverty stricken regions of the world.
Personally I find this such an amazing cause and for a world class brand to be involved in making a difference in more than just the beauty industry, it really makes buying their products that much more worth it. Knowing you too are helping to make a difference no matter how small.
Some of the worlds most famous celebrities have had the honour to be the face of Viva Glam. The very first being Ru Paul who we saw make a come back in the re promote of Viva Glam 1 in late 2013. Bad girl Riri is set to be the face of 2014 and I cannot wait to see which colour combo will be her tribute towards the campaign.
With only 6 lipsticks and 3 lipglasses being permanent within the Viva Glam range currently ,I am eager to see how long Riri will be featured on our MAC counters for. Having had 2 collections all in her name flying off the shelves as of late I hold great hope hers may become a permanent shade to add to our collections.
MAC Cosmetics and all of it's retail partners worldwide waive any additional costs in the creation and selling of the products to ensure every cent is counted to benefit the MAC Aids Fund.
So next time you purchase a lipstick from your local MAC counter or www.maccosmetics.com go and check out the beautiful array of colours in the Viva Glam range and think about it ....
I say this because the sale of one Viva Glam lipstick supplies ....
254 Male Condoms that effectively prevent HIV transmission
24 Female condoms supplied by local health departments to prevent transmission.
32 safe sex kits.
2 nights of shelter for a homeless person living with HIV/AIDS.
1 rapid oral HIV test.
8 home delivered meals for a person living with HIV/AIDS who cannot cook for themselves.
Monthly transportation to and from a medical centre for child living with HIV/AIDS.
4 tests for newborns to determine their HIV status.
Medicine for 5 newborn babies to help prevent the transmission of HIV from their mothers.
A counselling session for someone living with AIDS who is struggling with addiction and homelessness.
One year of clean sterile syringes for an injection drug user to prevent the HIV infection
3 nutritious meals for 3 children affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa,
And the list goes on for the amazing things the sale of one lipstick can do for someone affected by such a life changing disease. I love supporting this charity as I can trust that 100% of the proceeds made truly do go to those it is destined for.
As MAC loving customers or employees we can do our part outside all of the above by participating in AIDS walks. This helps HIV/AIDS organisations within your region who show their true loyalty to this cause by raising money and walking with family and friends in support for their local group or organisation.
The MAC AIDS fund matches dollar for dollar on any funds raised by MAC AIDS walk teams in the US and Canada so please put on those walking shoes and pop into your closest MAC store to see when you can participate alongside them in an AIDS walk.
It's nice to know a few dollars really can make such a difference to someone's life. I think that's where we don't realise how lucky we all are to live the lives we lead.
So go and make that Viva Glam purchase and go to bed happy knowing you have potentially saved a life.
Love and Lipsticks
