Lately I have had alot of my Instagram followers message me, wanting to find out my tips for a flawless base. First of all to create the perfect canvas you need to be using good skin care that suits your skin type. I will be doing a review on my personal Skincare routine over the coming weeks but I will share with you now the brands and products I use.
Having worked on counter for numerous brands, I of course was using all of their products including the skincare. This took a toll on my otherwise normal but oily skin.Having gone from scented to unscented, harsh to gentle I was in search of the perfect product to put my skin back to the balanced lifestyle it use to live.
My beautiful friend Shannon (Shaaanxo) and I were chatting about skincare one day and she absolutely swore by Michael Todd True Organics. I was instantly sold by her raving reviews and had to get amongst this for myself. The day these products arrived my life had changed and I have never looked back.
The Charcoal Detox Cleanser has controlled my oiliness and restored my skin back to it's former glory with minimal breakouts except the odd hormonal one every now and again. The fruit scrub has been so gentle on my skin but made a huge difference in my skin's texture and appearance, particularly when it comes to my pores and the way they use to like to make a statement around my nose area.
When it comes to moisturiser I did originally try a Michael Todd True Organics one but found even though it was oil free, I still felt like my face could pull enough oil that I could have my own rig. So I went back to a classic fave that never let me down during my time working for MAC.
This of course being the MAC Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Gel. It's soo soothing and hydrating and really adds the final touch to creating the perfect base for the products that are to follow. I find with oily skin gel formulas tend to work a lot better and feel so much nicer than a heavy cream that takes a million years to soak in, only to leave you looking shiny all day.
After I moisturise I then use my much loved Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Ready Primer. Ladies if you have not tried these you are missing out! I use the oil-free formula and it is my Holy Grail.Designed specifically for professionals this brand really knows how to please the ladies,when it comes to ZERO flashback at photo taking time.
Once applied I then get a little loose translucent powder and dust over my face, this trick has gone viral since Wayne Goss, but I am super glad we learnt this when I was studying to be an artist. It will keep your face shine free and slide free, all day - every day.
Next to follow is a new step that has been working amazingly well. I apply a small amount of Super BB cream from Skin79 which you can purchase at http://www.hikosencara-nz.com/ and buff it right into my skin. This reduces any redness well before foundation time so it's a great way to eliminate any excess concealing that would normally be done.
I then apply my love of 2014 Stila Stay All Day Foundation using my Tapered Face brush from http://www.xobeautyshop.com/. This brush is amazeballs, and perfect for those hard to reach places. I love coverage so it allows the product to reach it's full potential.
I then apply Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer onto those dark bags (from all that late night raging, who am I kidding) and with a dusting of that day's choice of powder (normally Inglot Pressed Powder or Benefit Hello Flawless) to set Voila we are done!
