Makeup Forever HD & Beauty Blender Review With Ashley

Hello beauties,

Today I’m reviewing the Makeup Forever HD foundation! I bought this foundation about 3 weeks ago from Sephora in the Makeup Forever HD Holiday Flawless Complexion Kit for $55. It came with a full sized foundation, micro-finish HD translucent powder, kabuki brush, and primer! It was too great of a deal to pass up and after using it for these past 3 weeks, I’m glad I didn’t! Along with the Makeup Forever foundation, I also purchased a BEAUTY BLENDER! I’m a little late on the band wagon for this one but I am so glad that I finally jumped on! I have definitely found that the BB is the best way to apply this foundation in particular, so let’s get started on the review!

I had quite a few initial thoughts about this foundation. To start with, I love the packaging. It is a good sized bottle that is filled to the top, and it comes with a great pump so that you can really control how much product  you are getting out. I also love the fact that there is a great color range in this foundation; it would be hard to not find your perfect match. For me, my match was 117 with wasn’t even the lightest color in the range (which I usually have to purchase.) Upon testing the actual foundation, I found it was a little watery which scared me at first as I was really looking for a medium coverage foundation.

My overall first impressions pushed me to purchase the kit and 3 weeks later, it is still my go-to foundation. This first picture  is me with nothing on my face- GROSS! As you can see, I am very light and have significant redness throughout my face. I also have quite a few freckles that I’ve been trying to hide my whole life (I’ve only just come to terms with them!) I have combination/normal skin with some dry spots and a little tiny bit of oiliness around my nose.

After applying the MUFE that came in the holiday set, I began prepping my BB, after soaking the BB in water, it really expands to twice it’s normal size. Getting it wet keeps it from soaking up any product that you’re going to apply with it and also helps to spread foundation flawlessly. I dotted my face with the foundation and began using the “butt” of the BB to press it into my skin. The second picture is my face after just applying one layer of the MUFE HD foundation. As you can see, it completely covered up all redness and really camouflaged a lot of my freckles!

Application was a breeze and by using the BB to apply, I achieved amazingly even coverage with no streaks or lines! The last photo is after my complete face is done! All in all, after wearing it throughout the day, I can attest that it looks just as wonderful at the end of the day as it did when I applied it in the morning. You may need slight powder touch ups if you are oilier than I am but nothing drastic. I do find myself powdering just my nose midday but as I said before, that is my only oily spot!

My final review decision…BUY IT if you have normal/dry/combination skin. I probably would not recommend this to those with EXTREMELY oily skin, but setting it with a good powder can really help and make all the difference! You will not regret splurging on this foundation (and the normal price of $42 for for just the foundation is a good competitive price in the high end foundation market!)
The beauty blender is a must have with this foundation as well, and probably many other foundations. I don’t know how I lived without it and any liquid foundation wearer (no matter what your skin type) should invest in this magical sponge!

That’s it in Florida for today ladies, comment below if you try out the MUFE HD foundation and have any tidbits to add!

Stay beautiful
