♥ Q&A With FeliciaLaTour ♥

This Weeks Q&A is with an extraordinary  Californian Beauty I found a while back on Instagram. I remember flicking through her pictures in awe of the well formed polished looks she created on herself and others. For me as you know I love following overseas trends on what's hot and what's not and Felicia is one of the Artists I go to most often for new inspiration.

With her career as self taught artist taking her to some pretty amazing places , working with some huge companies and making over some of the hottest names in the biz this down to earth gal is one you should all be following!

What I love most is her Positivity Blog  http://www.fee-love.com/ where you can get your daily dose of all things beauty and of course view Felicias's wisdom first hand. With being in the cosmetic industry it isn't always as glam as it seems , so it's a breath of fresh air having a Blog like hers to turn to on days where you need to feel a little more upbeat.

Felicia finding you on Instagram some time ago was a day that changed my makeup world, your work is flawless, the words you speak truly make you appreciate your inner beauty and create a smile, tell us a little about yourself?

Thank You ! Well to begin with my name is Felicia La Tour , I am 23 years young and started my makeup journey at about 18. I would always play in makeup and watch my
mom get ready and be so amazed .

Through out high school , I would do friends makeup and slowly but surely in adult hood I began to take it seriously . I gained my first celebrity client at 19 years young and knew I could do anything . I am now a makeup artist with a purpose . Spreading positivity as well as self awareness and love. I do Acting on the side as well as print modeling and motivational uplifting to whoever needs it .

What point in your life did you realise being a Makeup Artist was where you belonged?

You know , thats a good question . We all have a journey in life that we are on .Makeup is apart of my journey but it is not my destination .I believe makeup is an outlet for me in my life . It is a way for me to see what is going on behind the scenes as well as finding confidence with being on camera .

In my heart , I know that my makeup is a way for me to express myself and help other believe in themselves as well . Believe it or not to this day , I'm not sure if makeup is where I belong but I think that it is a syndrome of me being on the inside and others being on the outside looking in . I love the beauty industry , biggest part I love about it is talking to people and helping them while making them feel pretty . I'm some what of a therapist lol !!

I love that your work is so unique, bold and really creates a statement, where do you gain your inspiration and creativity from?

Thank you !

I gain inspiration from others around me . I am really weird about looking at others people work because I want to stay true to my hand . I've noticed If I look and study someone else than I become like them and I enjoy being myself and standing out so I keep my creativity around me .

For example , I don't research a lot , when i'm on set for a shoot I have the photographer explain their vision . I feel I am great at making that come to life ! I see what the hair stylist is envisioning and I see what the wardrobe stylist is envisioning as well . Once I get where everyone is going than I envision in my mind what I want that person to look like in the face . The whole " What would I do " thing .

I'm very big on understanding the people I'm working with because they are your team for the day . I also ask for peoples opinion on set because they might be able to add to my vision in a good way :)

What would be your Top 5 must have products of the moment?

They would be :

  Beauty Blender
  Fix Plus
  Armani illuminous silk foundation
  Baby Lips
  Makeup Forever Brow Filler

I'm loving these products right now !

Being self taught I know you can relate to a lot of Painted Lips followers who are looking to get into the industry what would be your advice for them?

My advice to them or anyone would be:

 1- Be on time
2- Be prepared for anything ( fully stocked kit )
 3- Be patient
 4- Be PROFESSIONAL
5- Be willing to cancel plans with your friends because your job is more important then " hanging out "

#5 I have to like beat this one into up and coming artists head ! Your friends may not understand but YOU understand how big your dream is and how bad you want this. I've lost a lot of friends because of this and I also gained some amazing ones.

I've lost out on fun trips with girlfriends etc. you name it ! I lost out because my dream & goals are more important to me . Keep in mind if you don't take the opportunity the NEXT artist WILL ! Just like that , your not thought about anymore . I drop everything for my clients ! If they call me last minute , I'm there , I bend over backwards because its important to me and this is my business .

When it comes to brushes it's often confusing for some on where to start, what are your personal faves to create such polished work?

You know , till this day I'm constantly experiment with products. Different  brushes work for different artist. I've come across Real Technique brushes and I think they are great !

They are affordable for your kit starting out . Also Bdellium brushes are fantastic as well !!

Is there any tips or tricks you use daily that you can let us in on ?

Drink water and eat right for beautiful skin . Take vitamins to enhance your beauty as well exfoliate & wash gently at night , and your skin will take care of you :) I say skin because without your skin being beautiful, your makeup won't be beautiful !

Skincare is super important what products would be your go to's and why?

Water for sure , helps moisturize your face . I can tell when my clients don't drink enough water because their skin looks dehydrated . When drinking lots of water your makeup looks flawless !! Just Gorgeous !!! I've been using the same face wash since high school . I have very sensitive skin so Cetaphil is great for my skin . I use Ponds moisturizer , Its also very easy on my skin & To exfoliate I use Sea Salt from LUSH all natural exfoliator
I love it !

Describe your beauty/fashion style in 5 words ?

  Fresh
  Bohemian / urban
  Unique
  Diverse
  Organic

Thank you so much for putting time aside to chat with me, your future truly looks beautiful and i'm sure you will have a lot more kiwi girls following you along the way. Any last words of wisdom?

Listen to your heart in all that you do  ! Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do . Your journey is your own !
